So it has been 20 years of the eb and flow of life... Where do I begin?
The moments of really living... When each of the children were born... The moment of the first cry and holding them for the first time... Dedication meals for each new baby and for each new home...
Praying over the big move... Scared... Wondering what this would mean but feeling the compulsion from God to go... God's perfect peace later... Embracing it knowing it was God's ordained will...
The little moves.... Selling houses... The big remodel... Watching kids grow... Struggle... Learn lessons... Teaching by reading on the couch... Choir, piano, sports, speech performances... Chaperones for kids activities... Pool fun...
Talking, talking, talking... Family devotions each night... Bringing the prayers requests before the Lord...
Death of parent... The seriousness of church responsibility...
Laughing about the cute stuff kids say... Bonfires... Working together - landscaping, roofing, cleaning, making meals together... Serving others in our home. Work teams in Mexico, Jamaica, and US... Open Hand... Samaritans Purse...
Birthday ebenezers - the big ones with the kids... Monthly anniversaries the first year and then yearly... Children's baptisms...
Work award trips... Beach trips... Mt. Rushmore... Williamsburg... Trips visiting family... The cruise...
The pain of work trip goodbyes... But the depth it brings the family through the notes and spoken "I miss you", "I love you" Brings deep pleasure and gratitude of the times we are all together...
The circle of love... His love motivates my respect. My respect motivates his love.
How do you sum it up? The blessings are profound... The sorrows at times deep... Laughing and crying together... At times I'm overwhelmed how carefully and intricately our lives are woven so perfectly by God... What will the next 20 bring? Only God knows... But I know we will do it together holding hands, shoulder to shoulder, if God wills and make it through each sunset.
Cancun was a truly beautiful renewal of the soul, reminisce of the past, faith in the future. Thank you Lord for your unspeakable gifts!
"That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all fullness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. Ephesians 3:17-20
My heart cry, oh Lord... How we need you each and every day...
With a grateful heart,
Mama
