An overview of our Easter : 
On Saturday, we had our first baking day in our new kitchen; the day we have looked forward to for SO long! We didn't quite have the nerve to make homemade sugar cookies (the kitchen isn't 100% done, yet and we want it to be as clean as possible until all the cabinet doors are on), so we cheated alittle bit. 
We bought pre-cut cookies and popped them in the oven. They definitely didn't taste the same as homemade ones, but they worked. We had also bought some cookie dough from a friend, so we made those cookies up too. 
Then came the fun part--frosting! By the time we were done, those cookies looked more homemade than any I have ever seen! =)
Mom had alot of things planned for the day (painting, cleaning, etc...) So I (Nikki) offered to head up the baking. Everything went great until the very end... Someone did something that they didn't mean to be bad, but it ended up being horrible and I lost my patience. Of course, in the end everything turned out fine and we made lots of memories!
About two years ago, we were out selling ButterBraid as a fundraiser for our homeschool choir. We stopped at a house about half a mile from our own. A lady in probably her late 50's or early 60's answered the door and when she saw our faces, instantly invited us inside. She bought a ButterBraid from us right away and asked us to stay and visit with her for alittle bit.
We had alot planned, so it was a quick drop-off, but she gave hugs all around and told us that she really needed something to cheer her up--her sister's husband (or someone like that, I don't remember exactly) had died and she was getting ready to go to a funeral on Easter Sunday. It made us want to go back to visit her sooner! I always become very convicted when I see how "little" things that don't seem big to us can make someone else's day better....
The finished product... All the colorful ones were eated first, but no one complained about them not being homemade. =)
After leaving our road, we headed to a state park about 45 minutes from our house. We were listening to the Pineapple Series CD's and where having a good time as a family and completely passed the exit we were suppose to get off at by 20 miles. Back-tracking, we were all getting alittle frustrated, but hanging in there. Once we made it to the state park, we went through the entrance and waved our year-long pass at the lady in the booth. She stopped us, explaining that their, "Spring Celebration" wasn't included in the pass. She also told us that it was going to cost our family $82 dollars to get in. (Not exactly what we wanted to hear when we were planning on getting in free!) So, we headed off to a smaller state park close by and still had a great time.
The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed being together as a family while enjoying their nature trail, having a picnic dinner (nope, not the "normal" Easter dinner, but it was more than good enough for us!), and playing ball. 
Livy is sneaking around in the cooler.... memories were something we had alot of this weekend, and although it was alittle different than our Easters in the past, I wouldn't trade the time we had as a family for anything!
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up unto glory.

Unknown to us at the time, her youngest daughter was someone we had met before while out visiting other neighbors--she is one of those "different" people. We chatted for a few more minutes and as we left, she begged us to come visit again. As we walked down her driveway, Livy looked at me and said, "She seemed so sad and alone! We really need to come back and visit her." Since then, we have been back to visit her three times...
With everything on the house, we just didn't find time. And we think of her so much, knowing that she is waiting for us to come back. So on Saturday, we picked our favorite cookies and Rosy & Livy made her a small sweet card to take her!! She didn't answer her phone on Saturday, but Sunday after church we stopped by.
